A Brewlicious Life
XXXXX
My name is Yvonne BREWer (hence BREWlicious) and this is the start of a new project for me at A Brewlicious Life with a focus on food, life and travel. I am a native Californian and have lived in both Northern and Southern California. My husband and I are empty nesters and currently live in the Coachella Valley, and yes, it is hot in this desert but . . . “it is a dry heat!” (at least that is what I keep telling myself – lol). Anything that has to do with cooking is my passion, but also my obsession, so I am going to try to capture it and bottle it all up here under A Brewlicious Life.
Since as long as I can remember I have loved food. How do I think I got here? I believe it started with my parents. My mom is from the South and her southern hospitality and manners really rubbed off on me. My dad loves food too and when he eats breakfast he is already thinking about the lunch and dinner game plan. Both of them are very good cooks. I remember when it was your birthday you got to pick your birthday meal and my mom would pull it all together and make it so special. They always try to seek out the seasonal items and build meals around those fresh ingredients. When my parents had to travel my siblings and I went to our grandparent’s house. I remember helping my grandmother in the kitchen and always begged if I could use her good china, nice tablecloth, cloth napkins and bring in fresh flowers from their garden to set the table for dinner even if it was just hamburgers. I am sure it was a total pain for her but she always let me do it. My Italian mother-in-law was also a wonderful cook and she literally handwrote a recipe almost every time she made any of her signature dishes. I learned a lot from her and we try to carry on her legacy. My husband and our kids are also huge inspirations. They are all good cooks, in their own right, and come up with some pretty delicious dishes that are in our meal rotation and some have even become our own holiday traditions. Oooohhhh . . . I can’t forget about my friends (even the ones that say they hate to cook). Wait until you see some of their amazing recipes I will be sharing.
I do have a full-time career, in the food industry, so this website/blog is a true labor of love and a hobby in my spare time. I hope you find some recipes to make for your family and friends but also to get inspired to host a gathering and to keep coming back to see what is new.
Please join me on this journey and sign up for my blog posts so you can get updates right to your email. Thank you for stopping by and hope to see you back here soon.
